We live in Tucson, Arizona, where e-verify is supposedly mandatory. With the housing industry suffering severe cut backs; we have seen a lot of people being laid off due to lack of work. The new Arizona e-verify rule has caused builders to lay off low paid illegal alien workers, rather than legal residents who need these jobs. Many of these illegal alien construction workers have relocated to areas in Mexico that have been experiencing a building boom. We see this as a winning situation, where the law is actually doing what it was intended to do.
